ALEX POYNEr

Alex Poyner is a Contemporary Seascape and Landscape Artist. Her art is a representation of her passions, places she has visited and the desire to capture a memory in a scene. Growing up on the southcoast Alex takes great inspiration from the tranquil moments and stormy power of the sea, British coastline and its harbours. The ebb and flow of the tide, revealing its underwater landscapes, along with the natural colours of the seasons and the friendly pops of colour, energise and inspire Alex. More recently Alex has been exploring landscapes in the pockets of calm she finds in Richmond, London where she currently lives. Alex creates her artworks, by blending screen printing and painting methods. Each piece starts with Alex's line drawing, often sketched on location for energy and proportions. Then Alex paints directly onto the mesh of the silk screen layered onto the canvas, using mono screen printing technique. Finally, She adds depth by screen printing the sky, contrasting its calmness with the dynamic foreground and incorporating her line drawing for detail. The beauty of merging painting and screen printing methods, allows Alex to create mini-series for each artwork. Every piece in the series features distinct color palettes, atmospheres, and brushstrokes, resulting in unique, handmade creations. While sharing the same line drawing, each piece stands out as an individual work of art.
